April 7, 2001 CAPE LOOKOUT CAVE

We did have fun yesterday. It started like this: Vellen, Myran and I were talking about doing something. Finally we got going. We took my sister Barbara's car, the one we had been reworking. We went to the beach. The big bright thing was out until noon and the weatherman said it would be raining all day. There was a little shower in the afternoon.

We went to Cape Lookout and took the 2-mile hike. One of the people we saw said they had never seen a more beautiful place. To us it was great but there are so many places in Oregon that are just breathtaking.

Back to the story or hike. When we got to the end, we went past the fences and down to the Ocean. The trail going down was not good. Two places you had to jump about a three foot overhang. The rocks had not dirt on them. Could the waves come up this far? We are thinking "yes."

There was a cave there and I wanted to see the end of it. I stood there about ten minutes and no waves came up on the dry rocks. Then here comes one. Myran and I began to run and look for something to hold onto. Yes, we did get wet but not much and yes, we went out on the point and looked in the cave a little later. We were about a hundred feet from the water. I do like my thrills. Vellen stayed farther up. Ilene said she was glad she had at least one person in the family with brains.
